Southgate is the census name for the South Gate neighborhood, a deed-restricted community in unincorporated Sarasota County framed by Beneva Rd, the Tamiami Trail, Hyde Park St and Bee Ridge Rd. It borders the City of Sarasota to the north but sits outside the city limits. It should not be confused with South Gate Ridge, a separate community southeast of Bee Ridge Rd.
